Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 14 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church Chapel, 725 North Woodland Blvd., DeLand with interment to follow at DeLand Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends today (Friday, August 13) from 6-8 PM at the Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand. His love of music was evident as an enthusiastic member of the First Baptist Church choir, Erieville Methodist Church Choir and the Barnstormers Men's chorus. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church. In retirement, he continued to apply his physical education experience by leading the YMCA Senior Aerobics classes in DeLand, FL. He was Superintendant of Schools at Cato-Meridian, NY from 1968 until retiring in 1983. He continued his career in Argyle, NY, moving into administration. He was known as an outstanding basketball coach. A graduate of Morrisville High School and Springfield College, Tuck was a lifetime educator, starting his career as a Physical Education Teacher in New Lebanon, NY. Navy during World War II on a mine-sweeper in the south China Sea and continued to serve in the Navy Reserves, retiring as a Commander. Born in Auburn, NY, Tuck served in the U.S. Tucker daughter-in-law, Amanda See Tucker and brother-in-law, Robert Norris. He leaves two granddaughters, Pheobe Lewis and Ashleigh E. He is survived by his daughter, Persis Ann Tucker of DeLand, FL his son, Peter Tucker of Montpelier, VT and his sister, Lucille T. He will surely find peace when laid to rest next to Persis Hockridge Tucker, his wife of 61 years, whom he has missed since her passing in June, 2009.
